California Child Support Overview
Both parents are required under California law to support their minor child(ren). The courts in California will apply statewide statutory guidelines in setting child support while the divorce action is pending and after judgment has been entered. The statewide support formulas are calculated using computer programs. Parents may, however, agree between themselves to a child support amount that is below the statewide guideline if certain conditions are met and the judge approves the agreement.
During more than 30 years of as a California attorney, 22 of those years focused exclusively on the practice of family law, I have helped many clients in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and surrounding areas pursue fair and equitable child support awards for their children.
I am also experienced at helping clients pursue modifications to child support orders when the circumstances on which the existing order is based have changed materially.
